Best (and Worst) Dressed at the Golden Globes

January 16th, 2012 by Vicki Leave a reply »

Last night, the best and brightest from television and film were present at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. And while we were all excited to see which stars would win in their categories, the biggest buzz was on the red carpet before the big show. Who wore what? Who stunned on the red carpet? And who had the biggest Golden Globe style mishap? We’re sharing a few of our faves gowns (and least-favourite) from last night’s ceremony.

The best…

All in white, with a touch of red and Brad Pitt by her side, Angelina Jolie was a winner in Atelier Versace.

Young Shailene Woodley–who played George Clooney’s daughter in The Descendants–rocked her red carpet debut in this Marchesa gown.

Charlize Theron in Dior: the Young Adult star rocked the red carpet in this light pink number, paired with a sparkly and sexy headband.

All we can say is “wow”. A mix of sequins, scales and feathers helped Evan Rachel Wood be a stunner on the red carpet this year.

A big winner last night–she won Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for playing the iconic Marilyn Monroe in My Week with MarilynMichelle Williams was also a winner on the red carpet in this purple leopard gown by Jason Wu.

Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara hardly ever does wrong at awards ceremonies, continuing her best-dressed streak with this blue number by Vera Wang.

Lovely fit, gorgeous golden studs: Nicole Kidman was a red carpet winner in this Versace gown.

Kate Winslet always knows how to accentuate her curves, and she makes red carpet magic in this black-and-white Jenny Packham dress.

Madonna was rockin’ in this metallic Reem Acra gown. We particularly adored her awesome single fingerless glove!

And the worst…

We normally adore Zooey Deschanel’s retro and fun sense of style, but this black Prada dress with green beaded halter top fell on the a-bit-too-quirky side. (The upside: we loooooved her nails!)

The normally-stunning Salma Hayek didn’t wow us this time around with this black and gold shimmery number by Gucci, which just made her look stout.

Prairie-chic? Not! This lacy Elie Saab number definitely didn’t do Jessica Biel any favours.

Whose red carpet style did you adore? Did you agree (or disagree!) with any of our picks? Share your thoughts below!

First of all Charlize Theron is a lovely woman but do we need to see all of her? She should have had lining or something under this dress. Both Selma Hayek and Kate Winslet should have chosen dresses that complimented their curves (Sofia Vergara managed it)but instead their dresses make them look much bigger than they are. Finally Madonna, honestly not a fan, so was disappointed her dress was lovely but was she paying homage to Micheal Jackson or just trying to get attention with the glove?

I think Madonna had a nice dress and Angelina’s dress was good but not good enough
