Holiday shopping has just become a whole lot more entertaining for Montreal families! We headed straight to Place Montreal Trust to check out its new gleaming interactive Christmas tree, which replaces the one that has wowed shoppers and passersby for the past 20 years, until 2011. If you ask us, the latter had done its time.
At the inauguration this past Thursday, we observed that kids and grown-ups alike were equally captivated by the nine screens that adorn the tree: they’re huge! And they’re fun, since each screen is connected to a station equipped with an electronic tablet which invites us to play a festive game. Shoppers passing through can follow players’ feats which are broadcast on the screens.
But this gigantic tree pushes the interactive envelope even further, with happy hour Twitter Thursdays. By using the hashtag #sapinpmt, @PlaceMTLTrust will broadcast your tweets on a giant screen located at the foot of the tree. Now there’s a unique way to share your holiday wishes, wouldn’t you say?
And from now until December 4th, we can entertain ourselves for a good cause! For each game played, Place Montreal Trust will donate $1 to The Montreal’s Children Hospital Foundation, which raises funds so that sick children always receive the best care.
Below is the making of video of the new tree, which is 75 feet higher than its predecessor!
