The designer behind BODYBAG by jude, Judith Desjardins, draws her inspiration from nightlife. She used to spend time in university partying at clubs and raves; inspired by what she saw, she carved out a niche for herself in fashion. Today, her collections feature straight and comfortable cuts, that are both edgy and feminine. Check out the answers that the Canadian designer gave us for our Girlboss questionnaire!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Definitely a night owl.
What is the piece you like the most in your wardrobe?
It depends on the moment. These days, it is the Euston dress by BODYBAG. It’s comfortable and chic enough to wear to work or for an evening out. You can easily layer it to create different looks.
Where do you go for drinks?
At 132 Vintage Bar. It’s one of the best cocktail bars in the city. The level of experience of the bartenders and the quality of the cocktails are exceptional. It’s also two blocks from my house, so I walk there!

BODYBAG by Jude on Bernard or General 54 on St-Laurent.
Who is your feminine icon?
My mother, she is the most determined, resourceful and organized person I know.
High heels or flats?
Flats! Otherwise I cheat with platforms.
What makes you smile?
My daughter’s antics.
Your favorite restaurant?
I like to try new places. But a classic for me for a long time is Patatipatata, they make the best fish ‘n chips! I like St. Urbain too.

I did not study in fashion.
What would you like to see as a change affecting women in 2019?
The last year was marked by the #metoo movement, which shows that there is still too much abuse of power. I hope that this beginning of change will bring more respect and equality to women for generations to come.

Anything is possible with willpower.
