Ice hotels: they’re a fun type of accommodation, something many an adventurous—or simply curious—traveller may already have on their bucket list. They are temporary, seasonal hotels built with blocks of ice and snow, and still boast some of the same amenities any regular (read: warmer) hotel offers. We’re lucky to have our very own ice hotel here in Canada: the Hôtel de Glace in Quebec City, now in its 15th year. From an ice bar to a chapel (yes, the hotel offers wedding packages), the hotel—which opened on January 3 and will close on March 22 for the season—it’s a pretty cool (pun intended) place to stay. Especially with the added opportunity of exploring historic Quebec City, and trying out the various activities on-hand, which includes ice fishing, dogsledding, cross-country skiing, and more.
But, of course, trying to get a room at the ice hotel can be a difficult endeavour. They go fast (you normally would have to book months ahead of time) and cost quite a pretty penny. Which is why HotelTonight, an innovative travel app that allows you to be spontaneous with your bookings, has teamed up with Canada’s Hôtel de Glace to exclusively offer HotelTonight users rooms at the ice hotel… at reduced rates, no less!
Intrigued? If you’re seeking a last-minute getaway this winter (and don’t mind sleeping in a room at -5 degrees, of course), book a stay the weekend of March 6-7, and March 13-14. The HotelTonight app is quick and easy to use, and is a great mobile-only platform to book your stay up to seven days in advance. Whether you’re an Apple or Android user, a stay at the ice hotel is one you really won’t want to miss!
