While there is a lot to learn, yoga can be the most beneficial practice for your body and mind. Don’t feel overwhelmed with all the information out there, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the basics on how to start practicing yoga and a handful of great poses that will push you in the right direction.
One of the most important things to learn in yoga is to breathe. You have to breathe in from your nose, until your stomach is sucked in, and then release through your nose. This should be done throughout your yoga session.
This is the first thing you do when your start your session. You should sit in Sukhasana (the image below) as this calms the mind and stretches your knees and ankles. Click on the image for more information.
3. Basic Poses
Start with some very basic poses so that you learn what your limits are. Here are a few basic poses that you can do and click on the image for more information on how to do them.
Half Lord of the Fishes Pose – Ardha Matsyendrasana
Cobra Pose – Bhujangasana
Downward-Facing Dog / Inversed V – Adho Mukha Svanasana
