Makeup Hues for Summer

The softest colours of the season
All winter long, we await the warm season so we can finally (!) show our colours. Although pre-established makeup rules are being shattered one by one—we dare to sport pink lips and bright blush even when it’s snowing—come spring, we feel even bolder. Here are some nicely pigmented items hitting stores this season: a few lively propositions inspired by the catwalk.
Cotton candy and bubble gum
1. Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish (in Make a Splash), $6.95 $ at pharmacies.  2. MAC Cosmetics Alpha Girl Beauty Powder, $31 at counters and online. 3. Estée Lauder Courrèges Eye Amplifier (in Aqua Silver), $26 online. 4. Guerlain Summer en Bleu Ocean Eye Shadow, $35 at counters (as of May 15). 5. Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom (in Lilac Flush), $9.99 at pharmacies and mass retailers. 6. essie Hubby for Dessert Nail Polish (2015 Bridal Collection), $9.99 at pharmacies.
A translucent lacquer that reminds us of the sea. A sheer powder that leaves a discreet pink shimmer behind, to be applied well beyond your cheekbones. An iridescent eye shadow with tender green light reflections. A creamy shadow that is as fresh as the ocean, and brightens the eye without running. A luminous lip cream for a candy-like pout. And another lacquer, not any more opaque, which recalls candied lilac.
Lighten up
1. Formula X Nail Polish (in Starfish), $15 at Sephora and online. 2. Elizabeth Arden Sunkissed Pearls Cream Eye Shadow (in Fresh Water Pearl), $26 at pharmacies. 3. MAC Cosmetics Fluidline Gel Eyeliner in Brassy, $19 at counters and online. 4. Guerlain Rouge Automatique (in Yellow-it Stick), $41 at counters (as of May 15). 5. Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational (in Blushing Petal), $10.99 at pharmacies and mass retailers.
A nail embellisher that is textured and matte for when you really want to make waves. An oh-so bright pencil to elevate your gaze. A fine liner that is precious and silky for a look as regal as a gem. A glittery gold tube that is so soft, it’ll put a smile on your lips. A crystalline liquid lip hue that is applied with a soft brush.
Blushing beauty
1. Nars Dual-Intensity Blush (in Panic), $52 online, at Sephora, Holt Renfrew, Murale and Hudson’s Bay. 2. Annabelle Blush (in Hibiscus), $7.95 in pharmacies and online. 3. The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick Universal Shade, $15 in stores and online. 4. MAC Cosmetics Mia Moretti Casual Colour (in P.S. I Like You), $26 at counters and online.
A tinted cheek duo with different effects; you’ll blush with desire. A stick that suits your cheekbones like a glove and enhances them with a daring velvety mauve that’s built to measure. A creamy, versatile balm that refreshes and revitalizes your look. An über subtle powder: an absolute essential for the season.
