Summer is the perfect time to try out the no makeup makeup look, especially in the ferocious August heat. It’s all about fresh and simple routine that won’t feel cakey in the summer heat and you won’t have to worry about touching up throughout the day. Here’s a step by step guide on how to master the no makeup makeup look.

Step 1: perfect your skin

By perfecting your skin, your makeup will be easier to apply and you won’t need as much. First, wash your face with a cleanser and gently exfoliate your face, so that you get rid of all the dead skin.

Step 2: moisturize

The fastest and more natural way to do this is to apply a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream. This will even out your skin tone and give a light coverage. Tip: Apply with fingers for the best result.

Step 3: conceal blemishes

Any visible blemishes or undereye circles can be corrected with a pigment-rich concealer. The trick is not to use too much concealer. For blemishes and undereye circles, dab and blend the product while building up the coverage.

Step 4: powder up oily areas

If you have oily skin, a light dust of powder over those parts will set the makeup and make it last throughout the day. If you have dry skin, powder your undereyes and you’re set.

Step 5: brow time

Instagram brows are not natural brows, so forget the pencil or dip brow. Grab a powder that is the same shade as your natural hair color and simply fill in the empty spots. Tip: follow the shape of your brows and use a spoolie after every application.

Step 6: apply mascara

Apply one to two coats of mascara and run a lash comb through your lashes to get rid of any clumps. Tip: if you got mascara on your lid wait until it dries and just wipe it off.

Step 7: cheek and lip tint

Grab a cheek and lip stain for a subtle rosy tint. Gently pat and blend out the tint so that it’s not patchy. This will last all day and you won’t get a caked on look that can happen with powder blushes.

And that’s it! Simple and natural looking makeup that’ll last through the humid summer days.
