Oscars 2017: Best Dressed and Biggest Trends

Last night’s 89th Academy Awards has certainly gotten people talking this morning. From host Jimmy Kimmel and his ongoing feud with Matt Damon and the many inspiring acceptance speeches (Viola Davis, anyone?), to the mixup during Best Picture, it was definitely a night to remember. There was much to talk about on the red carpet, too… we’re sharing with you our nine favourite “Best Dressed” of the evening.

Janelle Monae (star of Moonlight and Hidden Figures) blew us away in Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, covered in lines of lace set with feathers, sequins, beads and crystal stones, and a jewelled Jennifer Behr crown.

Best Actress winner and star of La La Land Emma Stone stunned in Givenchy Haute Couture, a perfectly matched gold silhouette to match her Oscar!

Two-time nominee Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) looked elegant in this off-the-shoulder, feathered Marchesa gown.

Navy was a big trend among the men, including Rogue One star Riz Ahmed in an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture tux.

Captain America on the big screen and in our hearts, Chris Evans wore a Salvatore Ferragamo tux with Christian Louboutin shoes.

Moana star Dwayne Johnson is no stranger to having style on the red carpet, rocking a midnight blue velvet tux.

Hidden Figures star Taraji P. Henson looked breathtaking in a navy Alberta Ferretti gown. With a high leg slit, she was both classic and sexy.

Winner of Best Supporting Actress for Fences, Viola Davis was the ultimate in glam wearing custom Armani Privé, proving she can rock any colour and still look flawless.

16-year old Moana beauty Auli’i Cravalho channeled her inner mermaid in this Rubin Singer gown.
