4 styles to rock effortlessly this season
Spring is but a few days away, and we’ve already begun scouring our favourite stores and boutiques—both physical and virtual—looking for the most on-trend items of the season. Below are the fruits of our labour, showcasing four of the most popular trends you’ll be seeing this spring. Which will you opt for?
Pretty in Paisley
The Persian print that gives off both a romantic and ethnic flair is no longer relegated to Indian shawls or your grandma’s 1960s brocades. New life has been breathed into this old-fashioned design, and we’re seeing it everywhere from shoes and jewellery, to scarves and even pants! Just be sure to not overdo it: your look requires just one item boasting the paisley design for you to make a fashion statement.
TOMS Woven Paisley Women’s Classic, $65 online.
Black + White Beauty
The neutral colour combo appears time and again; you simply can’t go wrong with a classic! While you may feel it is too “bland” to sport this spring, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Especially when you add a pop of colour to your look, such and pairing your black-and-white striped skirt with a yellow tee, or wearing a pair of black pants and a white top with a bright red purse to complete the ensemble.
Go Go, Geo!
Math is fun—we promise! Particularly when fun geometric shapes and prints make their way onto a few of our fashion staples. It’s a playful print that definitely should be worn in moderation, which is why you should choose one statement piece and roll with it. (Although, if you’re feeling bold, pairing prints can also be done successfully.)
Forever 21 Geo Wayfarer Sunglasses, $6.80 stores and online.
Ted Baker London Geometric Suit Dress, $325 online, and at the Ted Baker store at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre (Toronto).
The eyelet trend was huge last spring and summer, and it is seeing a resurgence this year, as well. Not surprising: eyelets definitely have the tendency to bring to mind the warmer months, as the tiny holes make it seem like they’re letting the fresh air in, and are often featured on summery clothing, like skirts, shorts, and tank tops.
