Between Canada and America there is a lovely region that is worth a visit. The Thousand Islands, these little municipalities are surrounded by water and are a wonderful summer travel destination, but did you know that they are just as charming during the winter, or any other time of year? Here is a list of places you must visit if you are planning on visiting Clayton.
Where to stay:
There aren’t many options, we have to admit it, but the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel is one of the nicest places you can stay at in the region. Its location offers a gorgeous view of the water, and the terrace is spectacular. The hotel was recently opened in 2014, so you know the rooms are comfortable and modern. This place is great for an escapade between lovers or with your family.
Where to eat:
The 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel’s restaurant is one of the best places to eat at in the region. The chef prepares tasty and comforting meals, and the menu offers many choices. We fell in love with the kale caesar salad, the sage butter gnocchis as well as the goat cheese scallops. This menu is worth a detour.
The best pizza in town! This modest little restaurant offers local beers and wood oven pizzas. Stop there for a fun lunch or to discover some of the region’s best beers!
What to do:
A lovely vineyard owned by a really nice Italian family! They make delicious wines also. For a relaxing afternoon spent with good people, visit the vineyard and try out some of their wines. You’ll want to bring some home too!
