We ♥ Dry Oilsby Mariève Inoue

4 hydrating elixirs we recommend
One of our go-to products when the temperature rises is dry oil. There’s just something about an often lightly-scented, sometimes shimmery elixir that just screams “summer”. Often a blend of several types of oils, they offer hydration, nourishment, and protection to both our hair and skin. Here, we suggest four of our absolute favourites.
Roger & Gallet Huile Sublime Bois d’Orange Dry Oil
What’s in the bottle? A heavenly mix of argan, camellia, macadamia, evening primrose, sesame, and sweet almond oils.
Why we ♥ it: Its citrus-y scent is addictive and its texture, divine. It can be used everywhere from your hair and body, to even your face; one of our favourite summer rituals is applying it to our freshly shaved legs right after our morning shower. Let’s just say we’ve gone through more than one bottle of this product… $39.50 (100mL) at select pharmacies, Hudson’s Bay and Ogilvy.
Sothys Hair and Body Shimmering Oil
What’s in the bottle? A shimmery blend of shea and corn oils.
Why we ♥ it: Its refreshing lemon lime and patchouli scent sets it apart from other dry oils we tried. Plus, we really enjoy the veil of subtle golden shimmer it leaves on our skin, which catches the sunlight and literally makes us look radiant. We also enjoy that the bottle was made of plastic and has a tight screw-on cap, which makes it easier to travel with than a glass container. $69.50 in beauty institutes and spas.
Lise Watier Sensationnelle Dry Oil
What’s in the bottle? A sunny combination of six precious oils that do everything from hydrate and nourish, to soften skin and hair.
Why we ♥ it: Its formula melts into our skin, and the scent is enjoyable, but not overbearing. It really leaves our skin silky smooth, too, and doesn’t feel greasy after applying it. $42 (98mL) at Lise Watier counters
L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Shimmering Oil
What’s in the bottle? A beautiful, silky elixir that smells amazing and can be used on face, body and hair.
Why we ♥ it: It adds just enough of a golden highlight where it’s applied. We particularly liked its lovely floral scent, and how it really helped moisturize our dried out strands when we applied it to our split ends. $36 (75mL) at L’Occitane boutiques across Canada.
