Anne Whitney Hathaway first became known for her role in Disney’s movie The Princess Diaries. Although at the beginning of her career, she played mostly in movies aimed at a younger audience, she broke her “safe” image with her roles in Havoc and Brokeback Mountain. She also starred opposite Meryl Streep in the screen adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s novel, The Devil Wears Prada, and played the role of Jane Austen in Becoming Jane. Her latest film is Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, in which she plays Catwoman. Hathaway will play Fantine in the upcoming screen adaptation of the musical Les Misérables, to be released in December 2012.
In 2008, she broke up with longtime boyfriend and Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri after he had been arrested on charges of fraud. (He was sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison). The actress is now engaged to actor Adam Schulman.
