Rihanna Robyn Fendy was 15 years old when she met music producer Evan Rogers while he was vacationing in Barbados. He brought her with him to New York City to record her demo; Jay-Z heard it and signed her to his record label. Her song Pon de Replay from her first album brought her recognition, and the album sold 500,000 copies in the United States alone. She followed it up with 2006’s Girl Like Me, made popular due to the single SOS Rescue Me. Her idols include Alicia Keys, Beyoncé Knowles, and Mariah Carey.
Recently, Rihanna was approached the clothing store H&M to take part in the campaign, Fashion for Aids, designing a t-shirt to raise awareness.
