Katherine Noelle Holmes was born on December 18, 1978 in Toledo, Ohio. She acted in many school plays throughout high school and began modelling at the age of 16. She quickly went on to Hollywood to audition for film roles, and was still a teenager when cast in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm (1997). She was afterwards cast in her star-making role: Joey Potter on TV’s Dawson’s Creek. The series lasted for five seasons, and she filmed a respectable number of films during its run. She was engaged to actor Chris Klein in 2003, but that engagement was broken off, and it was her courtship and quick marriage to Tom Cruise that made headlines. They have a daughter named Suri, who was born in 2006.
