Rachel Sarah Bilson is an American actress, best known for her role as Summer Roberts in the former hit CW series, The O.C. Bilson helms from a show business family, which includes her father, writer/director/producer Dan Bilson, her grandmother, screenwriter Hattie Bilson, and her grandfather, film director Bruce Bilson.

The actress began acting in high school, where she appeared in stage productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Once Upon a Mattress, and The Crucible.  She graduated in 1999, and later enrolled in college, but dropped out after a year, following her father’s advice to pursue a professional acting career.  After filming several commercials for the likes of Subway, Raisin Bran and Pepto-Bismol, Bilson made her small screen debut in 2003 in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also made a guest appearance on the show 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter that same year.   

While the actress was only slated to appear in a few episodes of the CW series The O.C., which premiered in August 2003, Bilson later became a series regular and the show’s success subsequently made her a household name. 

Bilson made her big screen debut opposite Zach Braff in the 2006 dramedy The Last Kiss. She also appeared in the 2008 thriller Jumper, alongside on-again, off-again boyfriend Hayden Christensen.

The actress currently stars in the new CW drama, Hart of Dixie.

Bilson dated her The O.C. co-star Adam Brody for three years, and recently got back together with her Jumper co-star Hayden Christensen.

Aside from acting, Bilson is a well-known fashion enthusiast and avid collector of vintage fashion. In 2008, the actress created Edie Rose, an affordable clothing line for DKNY Jeans.
