    Set Your Hair Straight

    By Myreille Simard

The grass is always greener on the other side—or in this case, smoother and shinier. Those with curly locks dream of straight ones, and vice versa. If you’re having a hard time keeping your curls under control, then you need our tips!

    The right method

    Step 1: Cleanse and condition
The secret of gorgeous, smooth hair? Your shampoo and conditioner. Look for products that smooth your hair and keep frizz under control. Don’t forget to condition; well-conditioned hair will give you the best results. Frizzy hair is often dry, so don’t skimp on the wide variety of rich, creamy conditioners, treatments, and masques available.

    Try:

     Smooth Down shampoo by Redken

    $14.19 in hair salons

    Step 2: Get smooth
Once your hair is clean and moisturized, it’s time to apply a few dollops of smoothing cream before blow-drying. These products make styling easier and control humidity, taming even the most unmanageable frizzies while nourishing your mane. Apply cream evenly from root tip.

    Try:

Straight and Soft Sleek Styling Cream from Dove
    $5.49 in pharmacies

    Step 3: Drying
The heat from your blow dryer smoothes your hair shaft, giving it that silky look that everyone wants. Straightening your hair with a round brush and blow dryer will make the look last longer, and reduce the damage to your hair.

Start with damp hair that you’ve towel-dried. Clip sections of your hair to the top of your head, working section by section, and beginning at the nape of your neck. Roll a section around the brush and dry it, pulling out the brush until the tips. Let your hair cool for a few seconds, then remove the brush. Continue until hair is completely dry.
