    Beauty Goes Techie

    By Mariève Inoue
    Published November 13, 2008

We’re used to witnessing technological advances in common electronics like computers and mp3 players, but recently, beauty products have also welcomed several innovations. We’ve got five products that are bound to make your beauty routine more efficient!

    The Mascara Powerplay
In recent years, we’ve seen everything from double-ended tubes to rubber brushes as far as mascara is concerned. The newest innovation? A vibrating brush that separates lashes at the root, allowing you to add definition like never before. It saves you the trouble of “jiggling” the brush, and works like a charm on lower lashes, too! It oscillates so fast that you can’t actually see it move, but you can definitely feel it, and you’ll notice the difference once you’re finished. Powerful!

    The Skin Stimulator
Cleaning your face by massaging cleanser into your skin with your fingers is so last decade! Using a vibrating cleansing device is the new way to go. Attach a disposable pad to the device’s head, hold under running water to get some foam, turn it on and slide it across your face for a deep-cleansing massage that helps to open the skin’s pores, and slough away dead skin cells.

    The Mini Curling Iron
Many of us use a curling iron to style our hair into perfect ringlets, so why not stick with the same concept when it comes to curling our lashes? A heated eyelash curler is the newest solution for taming even the straightest lashes before applying mascara.

    The Zit Zapper
Remember when “zapping” a zit meant applying acne cream to it? Nowadays, it means actually getting rid of the bacteria that caused it in the first place, with an electronic device that operates under the principle of heat applied directly to the pimple through a metal pad (on the tip of the device). It’s so advanced that it can get rid of most pimples within 24 hours after just two or three 2.5 minute treatments. Wow!

    The Hair Laser
Razors, hair removal creams, wax… there’s now a new way to get rid of body hair at home. Here’s how it works: a gentle pulse emitted by a handheld device (that comes in pink!) transmits heat to the hair and eliminates it. What’s more, it won’t cause ingrown hairs, rashes, or burns, and can actually reduce hair density over time!
