Article Content: 1. Decoding Your Denim2. Wide-Leg & Skinny Jeans

When reader Amanda wrote to us to inquire about the status of skinny jeans ("are they still in style?"), we looked down at our H&M ultra dark, ultra skinny jeans and wondered to ourselves whether or not we were slightly out of touch with the denim market. We've been permanently squeezed into our skinny jeans for the past oh, five years or so, that we've been kind of overlooking the new, emerging trends in denim (we know, it's almost blasphemous for fashion editors to be so ignorant!).

Lucky for our closet full of skinnys, the skinny jeans is in fact still in style (wahoo!), however there are some definite great alternatives in denim for those of you looking for something other than a stovepipe to fit into this fall.

We've broken down the 6 hottest denim trends, including not only the trendy styles but also some classic styles that are a requirement for every fashionista, even us. From the skinny, the boyfriend, the wide leg, the trouser, the bootcut and the high waisted, we guarantee we've found a jean out there for each and everyone of you, regardless of your physique. Our only trouble is squeezing one of each into our closet already rammed with skinnies!

Boyfriend Jeans

Leave it to Katie Holmes to start an international style phenomenon simply by throwing on a pair of Tom's jeans! Dubbed "the boyfriend jean", this style is best left to the super leggy, especially when rolled. While we've seen stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Amanda Peet adapt the boyfriend jeans by adding a pair of heels, we prefer the super casual style of Mrs.Cruise.  Just don't forget to roll 'em up!

Bootcut Jeans

The bootcut jean, perfect for every body type especially petite, is one of the most classic cuts that look good on tweens, their moms and everyone in between. Every style- conscious woman needs a pair in her closet! A pair of bootcut jeans will carry you forward from season to season, especially if you opt for a dark wash without any fading or whiskering.  Now that's what we call a classic!
