Many people consider eyes to be one of the most attractive parts of the body; they come in different shapes, sizes, and dispositions. We’ve got makeup tips for playing up your specific eye shape and enhancing your natural look!
The Basic Principle
Light, luminous colours reflect light; applying these hues will draw attention to certain parts of your eyes and make them stand out.
Darker hues create a shadow, giving an illusion of depth and making certain parts of your eyes appear smaller or deep set.
Round Eyes
Characteristics: They look wide open, and don’t really taper much at the inner or outer corners.
Makeup Tips: Line the outer half of your bottom lashes with a kohl pencil, slightly extending the line past the outer corner of the eye.
Almond Eyes
Characteristics: They are round in the middle, ending in a small point at the outer corners.
Makeup Tips: Use a kohl pencil to line the outer third of your top and bottom lashes (creating a sideways “v” shape), and blend.
Oval Eyes
Characteristics: They are equally tapered both at the inner and outer corners, and not so wide open.
Makeup Tips: Use a kohl pencil to line your upper lashes, starting thin at the inner corner, thickening towards the middle of the eye (to create an illusion of height), and thinning out towards the end, as well. Alternatively, you can use a bit of darker shadow above the middle of the eye, and blend outwards towards the nose and temples to create a similar look.
Small
Characteristics: They are proportionately smaller than other facial features (nose and lips).
Makeup Tips: Apply a light, iridescent shadow at the inner corner of the eye, both on the top and bottom lids to make eyes look bigger. Avoid using liner all around your eye; also stay away from liquid eye liner, as harsh lines can make eyes look even smaller.
