Smelling nice is one thing, but wearing the appropriate scent depending on the occasion is quite another. Here are a few tips to help you choose the best type of fragrance for each occasion, as well as the best method to apply it.

For a day at the slopes
We recommend: Take advantage of fresh scents that will go great with the outdoors, like citrus, herbs and wildflowers.

Application method: Rub your body with scented body cream (preferably from the same collection) for a light yet long-lasting effect. If you decide to apply the fragrance as well, apply in places that are safe from the wind, like the crooks of your elbows, so that the scent doesn’t disappear too fast.
Our choice: Ange ou Démon by Givenchy ($85 for a 50 ml bottle)

A mix that is both oriental and floral, made of natural ingredients like lilies, thyme and sandalwood.

For New Year’s Eve
We recommend: Rich and sophisticated notes like pink peppercorns, bergamot and amber will provide a slightly spicy and mysterious scent that will be a nice change of pace from your usual daily fragrance. If you’re not a fan of spice, flowers like gardenias and violets also make for chic perfumes.

Application method: Spray the fragrances on warm parts of skin, such as the crooks of your elbows, the inside of your wrists, temples and your neck about an hour before leaving the house. The heat from your body will activate the fragrances all evening long. Repeat a second time to get the maximum effect.
Our choice: Fancy by Jessica Simpson ($49 for a 50 ml bottle)

A happy fusion of spices (sandalwood, amber) and flowers (gardenias) make for a charming and sophisticated scent.
