Beauty products are not as static as they used to be: with every season come new innovations in terms of formula, packaging and benefits. Although our mothers may have had no choice but to apply a compact powder blush with a huge brush, we have quite a few more options: check out four new ways to get a healthy flush… and why we love them!

The Cream Blush
Creamy formulas blend easily, and can be applied lightly to look subtle and natural, or layered to give cheekbones more definition.

We ♥: CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush
Why? It is swirled with Olay Regenerist Serum, which means it gives skin an extra-smooth effect, not to mention that it also contains SPF 22… and looks like a blown up Campino (hard candy)!

$14.99 at pharmacies and mass retailers

The Loose Mineral Powder
Mineral makeup feels weightless, and is appropriate even for gals with sensitive skin, since it’s usually free of talc, parabens, and preservatives.

We ♥: Marcelle Minerals Powder Blush (Pink Glow)
Why? It goes on light, and in just the right amount. Plus, its built-in brush makes it compact, and easy to slip into your makeup case when you’re on the go.

$15.95 in pharmacies

The Lip and Cheek Gel
Benefit Benetint put lip and cheek stain on the map years ago, but the new trend is a gel-like version, rather than a liquid one.

We ♥: Sephora Lush Flush Lip and Cheek Stain (03 Rosé)
Why? It’s a shimmery shade of pink that looks subtle, yet oh-so-pretty when applied to cheekbones and lips. Perfect for spring!

$16 exclusively at Sephora

The Sponge Stamp
OK, we admit it: this one still qualifies as a compact powder blush, but its applicator is so different that we had to share anyway!

We ♥: The Body Shop Kiss of Colour Cheek Blush
Why? Its sponge applicator lets you apply just a touch of colour, and keeps the powder intact in your makeup case (goodbye, crumbled blush bits!). It also has a mini mirror on top of the case—which is always useful when you’re trying to make your touch-up quick and discreet.

$14 at The Body Shop
