5 local brands brimming with style
Whenever we travel to foreign cities, we simply can’t resist partaking in an afternoon (or two) of window shopping. Our most-recent destination? Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina and epicenter of South American fashion. Below are a few labels we discovered that you won’t want to miss out on should you visit this most vibrant city!

PRÜNE
When Argentinean women are on the hunt for accessories, PRÜNE is one of their must-visit shopping destinations. They head on over for the handbags above all else. These precious gems, made of high quality leather, come in various styles and sizes.  From the ornate clutch to the low-key shoulder bag, there is a bag for every ensemble. Do know that PRÜNE also offers stylish shoes to prettify our feet.

Elsewhere in the world: Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. In short, a trip to South America is a must.

Chocolate
The Chocolate woman is single-mindedly urban. Perched up on her high heels, she likes to sport ensembles endowed with a hint of sex appeal. While she’s sometimes faulted for her conservative use of colour, she receives many compliments for her ability to mix fabrics—lace, fur and silk in a single look—and for playing with proportions. Her casual chic has been spotted in Buenos Aires, New York and Paris alike.

Elsewhere in the world: Chile, Paraguay, Spain, Italy, Uruguay, United States, Canada…Nothing short of an international success, wouldn’t you say?

AY NOT DEAD
Attitude by the tonne is what awaits fashionistas at AY NOT DEAD. This young label is renowned for its rock-inspired cuts, animal prints and a simple-yet-effective colour palette. There, we find unexpected pieces with bite: python vests, grungy ripped jeans, airy blouses or plaid shirts, which can all be skillfully mixed with one another and accessorized with the wares available in-store.

Elsewhere in the world: Chile. But we hope for a boutique in Canada someday!

Rapsodia
Proof that Argentinean women don’t have anything to be envious of from their North American counterparts where shopping is concerned, Rapsodia is an utter delight for bohemian city slickers. The label’s boutiques, decorated like a Californian summer home, abound in Buenos Aires. Once inside, we linger before its long skirts, crochet dresses, sleeveless denim jackets, feathered accessories, and vintage-inspired prints as well as those inspired by distant regions. Needless to say, we spent countless hours there!

Elsewhere in the world: Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Colombia… But alas,
nowhere in our hemisphere.

INFINIT Eyewear
"Which one should I choose?" asks the lover of stylish finds upon entering the INFINIT boutique for the first time. One thing’s for certain: you won’t leave without a sparkling pair of tinted sunnies atop your nose! Vintage-inspired, frames run the gamut from fifties glam, cool aviator style, and those enlivened with colour blocking. We also choose this label for their ophthalmic frames with oomph. The quality is beyond reproach, and the prices, reasonable. What else could we ask for? A Canadian franchise, perhaps?

Elsewhere in the world: Italy, Spain, Peru, Uruguay and the Netherlands.
