Hair: For a Gorgeous Summer Mane

4 new allies for a season-proof do
C’mon: this summer, let’s pamper our mane! More than ever exposed to the sun, heat, humidity (and the list goes on), our strands will certainly be happy to put these new puppies, freshly-landed on store shelves, to the test. And the countdown of the season’s must-haves begins... now!

Oil purifier
Set makeup artist extraordinaire, from now on praised by beauty aficionados, Shu Uemura invented cleansing oil in 1967. 45 years later, the idea, confirmed many times over, that oil removes oil, moves to the shower. Thus, it is now the turn of normal-to-oily hair to get lightly “cleansed”, a process that, as a result, helps fine hair in its mission to gain volume.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo, $55 (400 mL) at beauty salons.

A matter of freshness
Here, we have a solution tailored for sunny days. But first things first, we must specify that the shampoo and conditioner duo is enriched with nifty technology that makes for a longer-lasting clean scalp. There are three high-performing ingredients at work that, when combined, have us saying, “Bye bye, sebum!” Do know: this freshness effect is also attributable to this green apple scented fragrance, released during and (especially) after cleansing.

Head & Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo and Conditioner, $5.99 at drugstores and department stores.

Doubly smooth
Enthusiasts of styling done to slick perfection, this one’s for you. We snatched up this latest gem, which delivers two smoothing actions in a single movement. On first contact, the thermal comb preheats our strands, all the while beginning to smooth them out. Then, once we apply pressure on the styling tool as it travels down to the ends, the plates join forces to finish shining our hair. Ingenious, isn’t it?

Rowenta Double Straight, $179 at beauty salons or online. Click here for a list of retailers.

Brilliant Mirror Effect
For the love of our hair (and our colour), a sun protection is a must for those days at the beach. Since we have a weakness for spray hair care products that are easy to apply, this newest anti-UV ray solution caught our eye. Perhaps because, in addition to its protective and nourishing properties--macadamia oil obliges--the potion is full of micro-glitters. Let the sunshine in!

Kérastase Huile Céleste, $42 (125mL) at salons.

These are nice, but not all of us can afford to pay $55 for one bottle of shampoo or $42 for a small bottle of UV protectant. Oy! How about some more affordable but also effective products for us frugal gals, eh? : )
