    Winter Fitness

    For semi-aerobic activities
(that make you sweat just a little)
Examples: ice skating, fast-paced walking, alpine skiing (or snowboarding), etc.

The cold winter weather shouldn’t keep you from going outside: on the contrary, there are a lot of great outdoor activities that can only be done during the winter season. Here’s how to dress appropriately for these types of sports:

*As was mentioned above; do not wear anything made with cotton, including your underwear (bra, panties and long underwear).

*Then choose an intermediate layer that is a bit warmer than a normal sweater and pants, such as a medium-thick fleece (depending on the outside temperature and your level of tolerance to cold).

*Then, put on a waterproof, breathable shell (last layer of clothing) such as the Fission SV Women’s Jacket by ARC’TERYX and the Beta AR Women’s Pants by ARC’TERYX . The pants are not always necessary for ice skating and fast-paced walking (depending on the temperature and the intensity of the wind).

*Don’t forget to choose the appropriate accessories: a warm beanie, a scarf, and warm socks such as the Silver Jet Ski Socks by Rohner. For skiing and snowboarding, make sure that your feet don’t feel too tight in your boots; this could cause bad blood circulation. The result? Feet as frozen as ice cubes.

*Ideally, you should choose mittens rather than gloves; they’ll keep your fingers grouped together, which will keep them warm. If you tend to take them off frequently, also wear thin polypropylene (or other) mittens underneath to always have a minimum protection against the cold.
