Mix it up
Sometimes, too much is not enough. Constantly repeating the same workout routine for months will bore you to tears. So, after your exercise routine has become comfortable, switch it up. Make an appointment with a trainer at your gym to devise a new schedule. Plus, it could be beneficial to alternate days where you work your upper and lower body, and other days where you work your cardio and overall toning. Your body needs time to rest and recover, too.
Dear diary…
To keep track of the great progress you’re making, and to push yourself even further, keep a record of your workouts. For example, place “smiley face” stickers on your calendar for each day that you get to the gym. You can also keep notes, such as “Day 1: walking on the treadmill; Day 2: running 10 minutes; Day 25: running 20 minutes, etc.” Also, set yourself clear and realistic goals. By keeping track, you’ll be better able to see your progress, which will definitely motivate you.

Once you’ve put all these tips into practice, establishing a regular gym routine, you’ll be able to savour your victory over laziness. If you’ve been able to stay motivated long enough to keep going to the gym, pat yourself on your newly-toned back. Then pull on those old jeans that are probably too big for your new body. What could be more gratifying than seeing results? Well, maybe buying a new wardrobe two sizes smaller!
