    Healthy Cookie Choices

    By Myreille Simard

Nutritionists will tell you: eating healthy isn’t a matter of depriving oneself, but rather eating what you like in reasonable quantities. Luckily, since cookies are one of our favourite snacks, and we’re not about to give them up! Here are five sensible cookie choices that all contain zero trans fats!

    Irresistible Cranberry Almond Biscottis
Calories: 90 calories per package of three cookies
    Fat: 3 g
    Carbohydrates: 14 g
Biscottis are generally a great healthy snack, as they are low in fat and contain very little sugar. What’s more, these come in individual packets—which stops us from reaching for more once it’s empty. The ingredients are almost all familiar and natural; you’re likely to be able to find them all in your kitchen.

Leclerc Oat Bran, Apple & Raisin Vital Cookies
    Calories: 120 per 2 cookies
    Fat: 4.5 g
    Carbohydrates: 17 g
These extra-chewy cookies are a great source of fibre. They also contain dried fruits that are good for your health. The package has a very brief list of ingredients, which is a good thing when purchasing cookies, as they’ll likely resemble homemade ones.

    Dare Simple Pleasures Almond Cookies
Calories: 70 calories per 2 cookies
    Fat: 3 g
    Carbohydrates: 10 g
Made with whole wheat flour, these cookies contain no colouring or artificial flavours. They’re crunchy and have a wonderful almond scent. Since two cookies contain a mere 70 calories, you can go ahead and have a third one for a total of 105 calories.
