    The Foolproof Garden

    Annuals
They may only last one growing season but they do have a longer bloom season. And they flower rapidly—perfect for impatient gardeners. They’re also easy to nurture and will shoot up almost anywhere. Here’s a few we recommend:

    Begonias
Begonias require a rich soil; that’s why it’s better to plant them in pots, flower boxes, or flower beds to be sure you’re giving them the best soil you can. Once you’ve got the soil under control, they should flower right up until the fall. Best of all, they blossom in a wide range of vibrant colours.

    Pros: Robust blossoms
    Lighting: Some shade, full shade
    Where to plant them:
    In a pot or flowerbed
    When to plant them:
    May to June
                                                    Blooming period:
    June to September

    Gladiolus
They may bloom a bit late, but they’re worth the wait. They make great bouquets that can last up to ten days.

    Pros: Happy in ordinary soil
    Lighting: Full sun
Where to plant them: Beds, borders, protected from the wind
When to plant them: March to May
    Blooming period:
    July to September

    Sunflowers
These flowers are a sunny touch for any garden. If you only have room for one flower, make it sunflowers. These plants get along well with hardy perennials and shrubs, and don’t need frequent watering.
Pros: Adapt easily to all soils
    Lighting: Full sun
    Where to plant them:
    Flowerbeds
    When to plant them:
    April to June
    Blooming period:
    July to October

you must be careful not to get it on grass or the flowers as it is a sort of salt which can kill or turn brown what it hits
