    The Foolproof Garden

    Flowering shrubs
An important part of any garden, they add texture to your garden. They also make a good screen, providing privacy. You’ll appreciate how robust they are, year after year.

    Hydrangeas
This shrub will flower for four months and more. It will reach up to three metres, and is a great choice for vast, empty spaces. A simple and efficient way to add a hedgerow to your garden or to fill up flowerbeds. Water regularly but moderately. We love the blue colour!

Pros: They flower more and more over the years
    Lighting:  Some shade, full shade
    Where to plant them:
    Ideal for flowerbeds and borders
    When to plant them:
September to May (except during frost periods)
    Blooming period:
    June to October

    Rhododendrons
A rustic, hardy shrub that doesn’t need much care. We love the gorgeous, sweet-smelling rose. Don’t water them much or at least very little during the summer, if not you’ll be left with foliage but no flowers. Certain types begin flowering in March, bringing early colour to your garden. Put them where they’ll get plenty of sun in the morning, but shade come afternoon.

Pros: Hardy, no winter protection required
    Lighting: Some shade
    Where to plant them:
    Ideal for floral beds
    When to plant them:
    Autumn or spring
    Blooming period:
    March to July

    Magnolias
We covet these magnificent and delicate blooms for our yards—lucky us, they produce abundant blossoms, attracting birds and spreading their fragrance throughout the neighbourhood. Keep them well protected, particularly during their first winters.

    Pros: Long-lasting, with persistent foliage
    Lighting: Full sun
    Where to plant them:
    Away from wind
    When to plant them:
    Autumn
    Blooming period:
    June and July

you must be careful not to get it on grass or the flowers as it is a sort of salt which can kill or turn brown what it hits
