It’s Friday night: a stack of chick flicks is on the table, you’ve got yummy snacks on-hand, and the girls are on their way over! Who says that a full-on spa experience has to happen at an actual spa? Check out these simple homemade recipes for hair and face masks, and a foot scrub, made with ingredients you already have at home.

Avocado Moisturizing Hair Mask
Avocadoes have long been known to have beautifying properties! Rich in rejuvenating oils, this mask leaves your tresses not only shiny and soft, but hydrated and healthy.

What you’ll need:

1 avocado, mashed
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. olive oil

Instructions:
In a bowl, mix avocado, egg yolk and olive oil. Massage the mixture onto damp hair, starting from root to tip. Wear a shower cap, and leave in for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, and follow up with shampoo and conditioner.

Coffee-Cocoa Brightening Face Mask
Much like coffee helps perk us up in the morning, it can also help brighten one’s complexion. This mask is ideal for any skin type, with honey also helping rid your skin of dryness.

What you’ll need:
4 tbsp. coffee beans, finely ground
4 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
8 tbsp. plain yogourt
2 tbsp. honey

Instructions: Mix coffee and cocoa powder in a bowl. Stir in yogourt until a paste is formed. Stir in honey. Apply mask to a clean face and neck, and let dry. Take a soft face towel, soaked in lukewarm water, and gently press to loosen the mask. Rinse with warm water.

Lemon-Honey Exfoliating Foot Scrub
An at-home pedi starts off with pampered feet! The brown sugar acts as an exfoliant, sloughing away dead skin. (Perfect for sandal season!) As for the honey and lemon, they boast antibacterial properties, keeping your feet clean and fresh.

What you’ll need:
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. honey
1 tsp. almond oil

Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until it reaches an even consistency. On soaked feet, massage the scrub all over your feet, paying particular attention to dry areas such as the ball and heel. Rinse off scrub. Pat feet dry and apply your favourite moisturizing lotion.
