Summer is just around the corner and the arrival of the hot season means everyone gets thirsty for sunshine, brighter days and a bit of…happiness! At divine.ca, we have a proven recipe for happiness; we’ve decided to pass it on in hopes that it will serve you well.
1 cup of simplicity
Have you ever noticed how complicated life can seem at times? Many people say they prefer simplicity, but few can actually claim they lead a simple life. If you find yourself wondering why things always get so complicated, know that you have no one to blame but yourself. Starting now, try to put things into perspective when you make a decision. Ask yourself how important your present dilemma will be in a year. How about six months from now? More often than not, you’ll realize that things don’t need to be so complicated; they’re usually soon forgotten anyway.
1 tablespoon of “now”
It’s crazy when you think about how much of your time is spent worrying about what you’ll be doing tomorrow, or even next week! Our lives are planned out to the most minute details, yet we still wonder where time flies. The answer is quite simple: we often don’t take the time to watch it go by. When you’re doing an activity or having a conversation with someone, invest yourself in the moment and enjoy it 100%. Take the time to live in the “now”. Carpe diem!
A pinch of patience
They say patience is a virtue, so why not add it to your list of qualities? Impatience is often a source of unnecessary stress, and arguments that are uncalled for. Getting annoyed at the line-up in front of you isn’t going to make it advance any faster; just keep in mind that it’s useless to get irritated and try to stay calm.
½ cup of smiles
A smile is a very potent tool that can have a huge effect on yourself, as well as on others around you. Subconsciously, smiling (even though you may not always feel like it) puts you in a better mood, and attracts smiles from the people around you, even from strangers. Try it; smile for a whole day and you’ll see, people will come to you, be kinder, and may even compliment you while they’re at it (and why wouldn’t they? we’re positive you’ve got a GREAT smile)!
0 grams of criticism
Women are known for their legendary complaining. Avoid this by thinking twice before voicing your unhappiness, especially when it’s to criticize or belittle someone. Any way, whining is useless most of the time, so only allow yourself to do it in a constructive manner; it’s bound to happen a lot less often.
0 ml of envy
You need to learn to be happy right where you are. Stop thinking of how other peoples’ lives are better than your own. Only you have control over your own destiny, so if you’re not happy with the way things are, go ahead and change them! Instead of spending all your time thinking about how much nicer your neighbour’s flowers are, why not take the time to water your own?
