Did you know that some foods can help restore physical imbalances, such as stress? It is therefore possible to calm yourself down merely by putting certain foods on your plate! We’ve got 10 to add to your grocery list!

Legumes. They are rich in vitamin B and magnesium, two great allies in your battle against stress! Your magnesium levels can actually be lowered due to stress, which is why it’s very important to consume a lot of this mineral. So stock up on lentils, green beans, fava beans and chick peas, and be sure to eat them two or three times per week.

Dried fruit and nuts. Hazelnuts, almonds, raisins and dried apricots are all excellent sources of vitamin B, magnesium and selenium. Almonds, for example, are chockfull of vitamins B2 and E, which combat stress. Raisins have high amounts of iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphate, copper, and vitamins B1 and B6. What’s more, dried fruit and nuts are perfect to indulge in if you have a sweet tooth, as they contain slow sugars and fiber!

Grains and cereal. Grains and cereal (oats, granola, bran flakes, etc.) offer an energy boost that lasts a long time and also produce serotonin (a hormone that regulates mood), which offers calm and serenity. Have a bowl of cereal in the mornings to remain fueled-up until lunchtime! You can also add some wheat germ, a food rich in vitamin B, iron, phosphate and vitamin E. It also contains magnesium, copper and potassium, which are also beneficial to the nervous system.

Bananas. This fruit is great for your nervous system. Bananas are full of vitamin A, all kinds of vitamin B, and offer 20% of your daily recommended value of vitamin C. Bananas also contain many minerals, such as iron, calcium, potassium, copper and magnesium. An inexpensive product, it’s also easy to digest and has a sweet taste that makes for a great afternoon snack.

Brewer’s yeast. It is ideal for combating fatigue and the blues, skin and digestion problems, infectious diseases, as well as maintaining a healthy nervous system. It’s full of vitamins, minerals, and dietary minerals, which all help combat stress. It’s also possible to consume in both powder and pill formats; just be sure to respect the allotted dosage.
