Your workout, version 2.0
Smartphones: we use ours for work, play, and then some—and we’re sure you do, too! Other than for blasting your favourite tunes while running on the treadmill, have you ever considered using apps that can actually help guide your workout? Here are four that can help turn your iPhone into your best workout buddy—and they’re all free!

Workout in your pocket…
Whether you’re looking for some new exercise moves or a way to organize the ones you already know into workouts, Fitness Pro is definitely a handy app to have installed. You can browse over 450 exercises by body part, view a picture of someone doing each move, and find instructions, too… and that’s just the beginning! Add sets with the number of reps of your choice, create run logs, and keep track of your stats.

Looking for workouts that are already mapped out for you? This app has great ones to choose from, depending on your fitness level and your goals. Looking to shed a few pounds, tone your body, or build your strength? Catchy workout names like ‘Mean Machine’ and ‘The Heartbreaker’, an easy-to-navigate list of exercises within each, and pictures and videos to ensure you’re doing them correctly made our motivation go through the roof. A must-download!

For the cycling enthusiast
Going for a ride? Take your iPhone with you and record your ride using Strava Cycling to keep track of distances, ride times, maximum speed, and more! Thanks to the use of your device’s GPS, you’ll even be able to view a map of where you biked. More fun features include your monthly stats, the ability to monitor your progress, and even compare your performance to others who are using the app.

Whether you’re a full-on yogini or a beginner who would like to integrate some simple moves into her wellness routine, this app is a great way to learn / build yourself a program. A beautiful interface (divinely pink + purple) that is easy to navigate makes it enjoyable to use, and we love the calendar where each day that we train is marked with a flower, which we can tap to view our workout stats. It even features a new, inspirational yoga quote every day. (Bonus: although it is not a universal app (one that works both on iPhone and iPad), there is also a free HD version for the iPad.)
