The Breast Self-Exam Quiz

You may have heard about the Canadian Cancer Society’s decision to no longer recommend monthly breast self-exams, dismissing the test as a poor method for early detection. The concern is that women will forego clinical exams and mammograms in favour of the BSE. But the society still recommends women examine their breasts regularly, to become familiar with their shape, texture, and size, alerting them to any changes.

However, some experts disagree, conceding that mammograms are better than BSEs, but that doesn’t mean a woman shouldn’t perform the test.
