Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore

Two men (Denver, a black homeless man, and Ron, a wealthy Texas art dealer) recount the story of their, very different, lives. Ron’s wife, Debbie, brings these two men together and their unlikely friendship becomes a reality. Faith, love, and caring for others unconditionally are what these two men learn from each other. Same Kind of Different As Me, is truly eye-opening and life-changing.

I really enjoyed reading this honest, and thought provoking novel. Denver and Ron’s intertwined stories drew me in; it was as if I was there along with them. It was easy to read this novel; not only was it inspirational, it was simple to understand. Their story made me think about how I’m living my life, and how charity should have a bigger place in my life as well. Laughing and crying through all the bitter-sweet moments; I realize that it really was not that long ago when racism and oppression were the norm! I would, very much, recommend this novel to others. Perhaps some Secondary Schools should consider including it in their English classes….would our adults of tomorrow be enriched? YES.
