So I just finished reading the Mermaid's Tail wirtten by Sue Monk Kidd. This is the second novel that I have read by this author, the first being the Secret Life of Bees.

It took some time for me to get into this book. I didn't find it moved as quickly as Secret Life of Bees. But the ending was fantatstic, couldn't put it down.

It is a comming of age story of a stay at home mom of a university student, her husband a phsychatrist, trying to find her place in the world when she recieves a phone call in the middle of the night, that her astranged mother has cut off her finger with a cleaver. Jessie returns to the small island where she grew up to try and bring peace to her mom, and find her place in her changing role of mom and wife.
