AGELESS WIT AND OBSERVATIONS
Wednesday, March 19 2008 at 8:42 pm

I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
- Will Rogers

If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free!
- P.J. O'Rourke
Civil Libertarian

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
- P.J. O'Rourke

The government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.
- Ronald Reagan

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
- Ronald Reagan (1986)

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
- Thomas Jefferson

The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.

- Mark Twain

'If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed, if you do
read the newspaper you are misinformed.'

Suppose you were an idiot.
And suppose you were a member of Congress....
But then I repeat myself.
- Mark Twain

No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
- Mark Twain (1866

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
- Winston Churchill

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always depend on the support of Paul.
- George Bernard Shaw

Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
- James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994)

Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer of money from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries.
- Douglas Casey, Classmate of Bill Clinton at Georgetown University

Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.
- Frederic Bastiat, French Economist (1801-1850)

In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other.
- Voltaire (1764)

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you!

I believe we are intelligent enough........... :)

Eleven people were hanging on a rope under a helicopter, ten men and  one woman. The rope was not strong enough to carry them all, so they decided that one had to leave, because otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to designate a person, until the woman gave a very touching speech. She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because as a woman, her role in life is complete. She married a nice, genuine man, gave him four healthy children and raised them to be the strong, independent young adults they are today. She also said that she was used to giving up everything for her husband and kids, and that this last sacrifice is just a symbol of the many sacrifices she has made for her family and friends throughout her life.

As soon as she finished her speech, all the men started clapping.

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE
Wednesday, March 19 2008 at 11:53 am

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE old and wise...

George Phillips of Gold Coast, Australia was going up
to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light
on in the garden shed, which she could see from the
bedroom window. ( Boy does this sound familiar! )

George opened the back door to go turn off the light
but saw that there were people in the shed stealing
 things.

He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your
house?' and he said 'no'. Then they said that all
patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his
door and an officer would be along when available.
George said, 'Okay,' hung up, counted to 30, and
 phoned the police again.

'Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because
there were people stealing things from my shed. Well,
you don't have to worry about them now because I've
just shot them.' Then he hung up.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed
Response Unit, and an ambulance showed up at the
Phillips' residence and caught the burglars
 red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George: 'I thought you
 said that you'd shot them!'

George said, 'I thought you said there was nobody
 available!'

(True Story) Don't mess with old (wise) people!!

My Father & I - Annonymous
Monday, March 17 2008 at 1:40 pm

When I was 4 Yrs Old:

My father is THE BEST

When I was 6 Yrs Old:

My father seems to know everyone

When I was 10 Yrs Old:

My father is excellent but he is short tempered

When I was 12 Yrs Old:

My father was nice when I was little

When I was 14 Yrs Old:

My father started being too sensitive

When I was 16 Yrs Old:

My father can't keep up with modern time

When I was 18 Yrs Old:

My father is getting less tolerant as the days pass by

When I was 20 Yrs Old:

It is too hard to forgive my father, how could my Mum stand him all these years

When I was 25 Yrs Old:

My father seems to be objecting to everything I do

When I was 30 Yrs Old:

It's very difficult to be in agreement with my father, I wonder if my Grandfather was troubled by my father when he was a youth

When I was 40 Yrs Old:

My father brought me up with a lot of discipline, I must do the same

When I was 45 Yrs Old:

I am puzzled, how did my father manage to raise all of us

When I was 50 Yrs Old:

It's rather difficult to control my kids, how much did my father suffer for the sake of upbringing and protecting us

When I was 55 Yrs Old:

My father was far looking and had wide plans for us, he was gentle and outstanding.

When I became 60 Yrs Old:

My father is THE BEST

Note that it took 56 Yrs to complete the cycle and return to the starting point

'My father is THE BEST’!

Let's be good to our parents before it's too late and pray that our own children will treat us even better than the way we treated our parents.

Repay a Mother for her Sacrifices
Friday, March 14 2008 at 5:27 pm

After Having Reached At The Peak Of His Career A Man Felt An Urge To Repay Back To His Mother For All That She Had Done For Him. So He Asked Her, "Mother, What Can I Give You? What Can I Do For You? I Sincerely Want To Repay You For All The Sacrifices You Have Made For Me And For All The Love You Have Showered Upon Me."

She Looked Surprised And Said, " Why Do You Think About It. It Was My Duty So I Did It, You Don't Have To Repay Me. Even If You Want To, There Is No Way A Man Can Ever Repay His Mother."

Despite Her Continuous Refusal To Ask For Anything, He Continued To Persist. To Put An End To The Discussion, She Said, "All Right. If You Must, Then Tonight You Sleep On My Bed, With Me, Just As You Used To When You Were A Baby."

He Said, "That's A Strange Thing To Ask For, But If It Pleases You, I Will."

As Soon As He Fell Asleep, The Mother Got up And Brought A Bucket Of Water. She Poured A Mug Full Of Water On His Side. Feeling Disturbed By The Wetness Under Him, In His Sleep He Moved Away To The Other Side Of The Bed. As He Settled Down, His Mother Poured Another Mug Of Water On The Other Side. In His Slumber, He Tried To Find Space Towards The Foot Post Of The Bed. Sometime Later He Woke Up Feeling That This Part Of The Bed Too Was Damp.

He Got Up And Saw His Mother, With The Mug In Her Hand. He Asked Angrily, "What Are You Doing Mother? Why Don't You Let Me Sleep? How Do You Expect Me To Sleep On A Wet Bed?"

She Said, "I Slept With You, When You Wetted The Bed In The Night. I Changed Your Nappy (Diaper Made Of Cotton Cloth, Used In Pakistan/India) And Moved You To The Dry Part Of The Bed, While I Slept On The Wet Side. You Wanted To Repay Me ... Can You Sleep Here Even For One Night With Me On A Damp Bed? If You Can, I'll Take It That You Have Repaid Me."

How True It Is That Of All The Debts In The World, The One That Can Never Be Repaid Is The One You Owe To Your Mother. You Can Never Repay The Love, Care And Time Your Mother Gave To Bring You Up. You Are A Part Of Her Flesh And Blood; Don't Forget This, Because She Never Ever Forgets It.
