Autism Speaks (Walk Now For Autism)
Sunday, June 1 2008 at 11:07 pm

Hi All,

My nephew Michael was diagnosed with autism about a month after his 3rd birthday. At the time he was non-verbal, couldn't leave the house without a tantrum and had many sensory and motor-planning challenges. This is what autism is all about.

Michael faces many challenges everyday and never gives up trying his very best. He is now 5 years old and he can talk, read, write, go out to public places without a tantrum and ride a bicycle! With time, patience and lots of love and hope we can make a difference in Michael's life, as well as all those who are diagnosed under the autism spectrum disorder.

I am participating in Walk Now for Autism to help find a cure for autism. Autism affects one in every 150 children born today. Boys are 4 times more likely to have autism. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Research is crucial. Every 20 minutes another child is diagnosed with autism. Not only must we find ways to improve the quality of life for children and adults with autism, but we also must find a cure, and soon.

Walk Now for Autism is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. I will be walking on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at Nathan Phillips Square and would like you to support those affected by autism. You can donate to Walk Now for Autism and join my team online through my web-page at www.walknowforautism.org. Donations can also be mailed to Autism Speaks Canada using the donation form located on my page or send a cheque made out to Autism Speaks Canada. My team name is Hope for Michael; please memo this on your cheque and the donation form.

Please join me in my fight against autism. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the thousands of Canadians living with autism today.

Sincerest thanks,

Thea

Tips for Mixologist

Preparation for Cocktails

- Use the freshest ingredients for best results like freshly squeezed juices.

- Keep lots of ice on hand.  Consider buying ice if you're entertaining.  Ice stored in a household freezer for a long time may absorb "off odours", which may taint the taste of your drink.

- have a variety of cocktail glasses available to choose from.  Using spotless glassware makes the presentation.  Rinse cocktail after washing and polish with a lint-free cloth.

Hope this helps...it sure helped for me!

All Time Beauty Faves - Do Share
Wednesday, January 9 2008 at 2:40 am

1.  When it comes to under-eye circles - my fave product is Dior's Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen - the technique is less is best, cover only the darkest part, most often at the inner corner area of the eye (although, to get the best results blend with your fingers or a brush).

2.  Now when it comes to those awful scars, blemishes, birthmarks, tattoos...you name it...an amazing product I've discovered at a New You Show in Toronto a few years ago is Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation SPF30 - this has such great staying power...and just simply set with a fine coating of translucent powder.  Doesn't feel cakey or heavy.

3.  Lashes (wink-wink), Cover Girl LashExact - this has the most soft touch application and it delivers such an even mascara application every time...it thickens and drys nicely to prevent smudging.

4.  Nice hair - well you'll need to try Dr. Hauschka Apricot and Sea Buckthorn Shampoo and Dr. Hauschka  Jojoba and Marshmallow Conditioner...my hair is so baby-fine and flat that this combo is such a lightweight formula that adds voluptuous volume and smells sooo good.

5.  M.A.C. Lipsticks in Snob, Pretty Please, MidiMauve, Media, Sophisto...whether your into matte pastel posh, chocolate lover, comfortably nude or just about anything...great colours for anyone.

6.  Budger Friendly Bod...after spending so much money on the holidays...I can't get enough of Nivea Body Good -bye Cellulite Anti-Cellulite Gel - it helps melt away the look of orange peel skin.

That's just to name a few of my fave beauty products - share yours - would love to try some new products you all love!!!
