4 tasty ideas from around the globe
We love travelling around the world for culinary inspiration (even if just virtually), but when it seems we’ve exhausted all our lunch and dinner options, we thought “But what about breakfast?” If you want something unique on your plate in the morning, check out these breakfast staples of Denmark, Mexico, India, and Syria. Dig in!
For pancake lovers, aebleskivers are a great Danish alternative! These are puffed pancake balls, usually stuffed with apple jelly, but can also be served with jams on the side and dusted with powdered sugar. For this recipe, an aebleskiver pan—which has seven slots—is required.
For those who like a filling breakfast with a bit of a kick, try the classic Mexican dish, huevos rancheros. It consists of fried eggs served with fried tortillas and tomato salsa. For added protein, they can be served alongside rice or beans.
We’ve already taken you on a culinary voyage of India, but we refrained from sharing with you the country’s morning delicacies… until now. Osas are thin crepes made with fermented rice, and can be accompanied with coconut shavings and mango chutney. Yum!
For a fresh vegetarian breakfast option, arous labnah is a rolled flatbread filled with delicious labneh (strained yogourt), tomatoes, cucumber, mint… and any other veggies you may have on hand! You can also dip bread into a mixture called za’atar, which consists of salt, herbs, and sesame seeds.
