A royal affair
Last year, there was the royal wedding. And this year, while we witnessed the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, our eyes were also locked on the Summer Olympics in London. It’s no surprise, then, that current décor trends are imbued with a regal and oh-so British je-ne-sais-quoi. Now, without further ado, here are our sovereign but modern finds of the season.
1. Frama Mirror, $28 at zonemaison.com.
Must-have: a mirror with rich metallic accents.
For a modern take: We use it as a decorative frame for a less flashy effect.
2. Union Jack Pillow, $24.99 at HomeSense.
Must-have: the British flag.
For a modern take: Weopt for accessories bearing the above symbol, along with another graphic element.
3. ARSTID Table Lamp, $29.99 at Ikea.
Must-have: a pleated lampshade.
For a modern take: This lamphas a clean, simple look.
4. Reverie Sofa, $1,299 at EQ3.
Must-have: upholstered furniture.
For a modern take: Fabric and straight lines instead of leather steal the show.
5. GlucksteinHome Suede Harmonie Ice Bucket, $54.99 at The Bay.
Must-have: accessories for the bar—they’re a must!
For a modern take: The sheen of the bucket is obscured by its engravings, and the wooden lid.
6. Belvedere Butler’s Tray Table, $349 at Crate & Barrel.
Must-have: rich wood.
For a modern take: Why not opt for red, for originality?
