Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)

An investment vehicle introduced by the Government of Canada in 2009 which allows Canadians to set money aside tax-free througout their lifetimes. Contributions are not tax deductible for income tax purposes and the income earned inside the account is tax free, even when it is withdrawn.

Taxable income

Income which the income-earner is required to pay tax on in the current year.

Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)

Canada's largest stock exchange. Formerly known as the TSE.

Treasury bills

Short-term debt securities issued by governments. Also known as T-bills.
