Dividends

Payments made by a corporation to its shareholders.

Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA)

An index that shows how certain stocks have traded and used to gauge the performance of the industrial sector of the American stock market. The average is computed from the stock prices of 30 of the largest and most widely held public companies in the United States. Also referred to as "Dow Jones" or "The Dow" for short.

Equifax

The largest credit-reporting agency in Canada.

Equity

(1) Refers to the excess of assets over liabilities. (2) Refers to the net worth of a company. (3) The value of an ownership interest in a property. (4) A stock can also be called 'equity' because it represents ownership of a company.
