Just a little over a year ago, we got a chance to play around with BlackBerry’s first tablet, the PlayBook, when it launched. Now, with a brand new PlayBook OS 2.0 update and a much lower price (the 16GB version is just $199!), it becomes even more interesting than when it first came on the market. With essential additions like a calendar and email app (which were missing from the first version of the operating system), and plenty of cool little tweaks, we’re really liking what we see. For example, it boasts a unified inbox for emails, and Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn messages, all in one place—practical! We also dug its enhanced keyboard with not only an autocorrect function, but also the ability to predict the next word you’ll type based on the context of the sentence, as well as your own personal habits. There’s a slew more of smart improvements like bigger calendar numbers to indicate a fully-booked day, social networking profile integration into the contacts app, and real multi-tasking that allows you to go to a different app, even when you have unfinished business in the previous one. Definitely worth looking at if you’re considering getting a new tablet—especially if you’re on a limited budget! $199.99 to $299.99 at electronics retailers. |
