Sex is the most natural act two people can partake in, but we bet you didn’t know that making lovecan actually have a toll on the environment. Fret not: you can still have a good time without the guilty conscience! Read on for tips on how to have a more eco-friendly romp.

Dim the lights.
We all want to save energy, cut down on our electric bill and lower our carbon footprint. One way to go about it is by doing the deed in the dark—or at least by candlelight. You’ll do your part all the while creating a sexy ambiance.

Use “green” toys.
Did you know some sex toys are made with a chemical called phthalate? Used to soften plastic and give some dildos a jelly-like feel, phthalate poses health risks such as cancer and infertility. Opt for different kinds of dildos made of other materials, such as silicone, glass or metal. If you do own a phthalate dildo, be sure to use it with a condom.

Use natural lubricants.
Lube is basically an essential when it comes to sex, but some contain different toxic chemicals and ingredients. Whether they’re parabens, glycerin, spermicide  or petroleum, they can lead to anything from skin irritation to infertility. Opt for natural or organic lubricants that will make you feel good and still be good for you.

Use organic massage oils.
Massage oils are made from natural ingredients, but are you aware that some of those were probably grown with the use of pesticides and chemicals? Those are things you do not want absorbed by your skin! Opt for massage oil made of 100% organic ingredients that will still provide a sensual feel for both you and your guy.

Use eco-friendly condoms.
Sure, condoms are all made from natural latex, which is biodegradable, but other ingredients like preservatives and chemicals are not. A great alternative are vegan condoms, which are made of natural ingredients and aren’t tested on animals, and safety and comfort are not compromised.

Take a bath for two.
Keeping clean is important to one’s health, so why not save water during bath time? Get your partner in on the squeaky clean fun and have a romantic bath or shower à deux. Also be sure to use eco-friendly bath products made from organic and vegetarian ingredients, without preservatives.

Wear organic lingerie.
You may have a vision of yourself wearing a bra made out of a burlap sack, but eco-friendly undergarments are popular and made to be stylish. Besides, wearing cotton grown with the use of pesticides is anything but sexy.
