Gas pump etiquette

| I went to get gas coming home from Matheson, visiting the in-laws, yesterday and had to stop to get gas. So i stopped at a small gas station on the way and it was surprisingly busy. there was only one pump open and the person at the pump behind wsa parked too far ahead if your tank was on the drivers side but mine is on the passengers side so i drove ahead and backed my car to the pump. It is a "full serve" station and the guy serving hte gas waved his hands as if i was going to run into the car behind me if i backed anymore when there was at least 3 feet behind me but i stopped anyway. So as my car was being filled 2 more cars pulled in and one stopped in front of me none of the other cars at the pumps moved their vehicle when they went in to pay to make room for anyone else. So when my car was done i started pulling ahead and the guy serving hte gas hit the back of my car for me to stop and says oh you're in a hurry are you and i said no im just moving so someone else can get in and as i said that our dog who was in the front seat moved and pushed the shifter out of gear and as i went to pull ahead i stalled the car and the old man serving the gas laughed at me as if i didnt know how to drive. So i paid for my gas and left feeling like a dork, when really i was the only one who had any concideration for anyone else. |
