One Christmas we made homemade candles for everyone. We used milk cartons of all sizes and frozen orange juice ‘cans’ and melted all of our candle stubs. Did have to buy the wick but that was the only thing we purchased.
--Start with very clean milk cartons* with top open (unfolded) and/or frozen concentrated orange juice containers;
--melt wax in a double boiler;
--dangle the wick in the middle of the carton (make sure that it goes to the very bottom);
--add crushed ice to fill the milk carton;
(larger chunks of ice will leave larger holes. If the ice is too crushed it will just melt quickly and leave you with an almost solid candle. A nice mixture of mid-sized pieces is perfect.)**
--pour melted wax over the ice;
--leave to set; then,
–when the wax has set just pour the water out and peel the carton away.

**
You will be left with a "lacy-looking" candle.
Unique in every way!
Some trial and error may be necessary. The carton will be toast but you can re-melt the wax.Milk cartons come in four sizes - individual serving, ½ litre, 1 litre and 2 litre (Makes a nice set of candles)
