cats that eat plants by klhay
Tuesday, March 4 2008 at 10:03 pm

try useing a spray gun with water and every time they come near the plant you spray them , or you can be like me and go for fake plants , when my cat was a very young kitten he ate a defenboca plant he never ate for a while  i thought i  was going to lose him but he came back he might be short a life or two ,

with the water you might have to sit there for a while they say that the cats are lacking some vitiamin when they do that , plant some grass seed or cat nip might help too.

My cats eat my plants! Some suggestions, that I use at home.

1) Protect precious plants, place cacti at the base. One nibble and they will think twice. Caution sometimes they will eat the cactus.
2) Pine cone decorations at the base of larger plants. Cats hate to walk on or dig pinecones.
3) Plant grass or something else to nibble on, catmint only works for half of all cats.
4) Sacrifice a safe plant that you know they like. My cat loves spider plants, he will jump to get at them knocking everything down.
5) Put plants in larger pots, if they don't eat it, they dig it, of push it over. Hence the larger pot.
6) Wet feet, some plants like it wet. Lucky bamboo, is placed in water, which they drink but can't dig and they don't seem to eat plants that provide water.
