I've been recovering slowly, spending as much time with family as possible and enjoying my time with Danica - she's pulling me through this, and she'll never fully understand.
I've also got a new project on the go. Since I won't be starting my daycare back up until the Fall, I thought I'd take my spare time to find a new hobby. (To be perfectly honest, I haven't got many hobbies.) So, I've started a blog :) For those of you who might be interested, please take a look at it here!:

So I'm back home, finally! After posting my last entry, Kevin and I rushed straight to L&D Triage. I expected they'd check me out, put me on the monitor for half an hour or so and then send me home............. Not so much! They checked me, I was 1cm dialated and my contractions were coming 6 minutes apart. They admitted me almost immediately, and I was given steroid shots right then and there to help mature the babies lungs in case of premature birth. They told me they'd keep me over night, and let me go the next day if things began to settle down. The NICU doctors came and spoke to us about the risks of premature birth to twins, and although they were confident about the babies outlook, it was still quite scary. Unfortunately, things did NOT settle down for an entire week. Thankfully, they DID settle down eventually! So, I am now 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and was sent home yesterday but put on bed rest. If anything starts up again, we're to go straight back to triage - and likely won't be coming home until these girls are born. I'm incredibly bored, but I am so relieved that I was able to hold them in for another week and that they're okay! The hospital stay was a little surreal - it's not often one is stuck in hospital when they don't feel "sick." I was having contractions, and lots of cramping - but the pain was kept under control with tylenol and the contractions were more worrysome than anything. I felt a little bit like I'd been doing a gym class fitness test for hours on end... so I was tired a lot, but was at least able to rest. And I really, really missed Danica. It was the longest I've been away from her, ever. I cried after Mom and Kevin would bring her to visit, because it was so hard to say goodbye and know that I wouldn't be the one putting her to bed at night. She was quite out of sorts and not herself while visiting.
So there's my update! I need to go and lay down again, as I've honestly been sitting up too long and can feel the discomfort setting in again. Kevin has been doing everything, and while he's at work I now go to my Mom's so that she can take care of Danica and I. I'm only allowed to get up to get myself in the car and into her house, and then to pee....... It's kind of brutal!
On the plus side, I won a cute pair of shoes from a blog today - they're those new sneakers which are supposed to tone your muscles as you wear them, so I should be all set to get back into shape after the girls are born and I'm recovered! lol
Take care, all.
xo Kris.

Today will be an interesting day.
One year ago, today, my Dad passed away due to leukemia. It sometimes feels as long, and sometimes it feels just like yesterday. I am sad that he won't get to witness the new lives coming into our family in a few short weeks. But I'm also so thankful that he was able to meet and get to know his first grandchild for 8 months of her life. He loved her, so much! We really, really miss him and always will.
30 years ago, today, my husband was born. It's his birthday - and it's kind of a big one - and it's so hard for him to have to try and celebrate knowing what kind of a day we all had last year. I would love to say that I'm able to throw a big party, or do something really special for him to make him feel a little better today.... but -
I've been having a few minor pregnancy related problems, and I'll be heading into the hospital to get checked out later on this morning when Kevin gets up. I had a long, and really painful contraction early on Sunday morning, and many, many painless ones thereafter. Yesterday, I called my OB first thing and he said to time them to make sure they're not 10 minutes apart or less. Well, they weren't....but as of last night they've been sometimes 8 minutes apart, sometimes 15 or 20... Sometimes painful, sometimes not. They don't always stop when I lay down, which is what has me most concerned as Braxton Hicks are supposed to cease when changing positions.
Anyway - I'm being careful. I've stayed off my feet, Mom has been watching Danica while Kevin was at work. My family are all still asleep, and since Kevin was working until 4am last night I won't wake him for a little while - at least until I'm ready to go as it only takes him 10 minutes.
We'll see how everything plays out. If something is "going on" down there, I guess I could wind up on bedrest. If not - then that's wonderful! Then I'll spend the afternoon with Kevin, Danica, and probably the rest of my family, as today is just one of those significant days in life that only ever happen once.
More updates, later... :)
xo Kris.

So this last week has been pretty darn good! The other day I went out with Mom to pick up the last of the small things I need for my baby girls. I obviously have tons of clothes and things from Danica already, but needed more preemie/small sized sleepers and onesies, baby wash cloths, a couple of hooded towels, little hats, mittens and socks, newborn diapers, etc. Mom also bought us a gorgeous basinnet to have beside my bed when the twins come home - it's wide enough that they will sleep in it together, assuming that's how they want to sleep. I've heard mixed reviews on this, some twins are only happy if they can be in the same place and with others it doesn't work out so well. Either way, I'm very excited about it! I also splurged and bought some beautiful muslin cloth swaddling blankets - a set of four, actually. They were just so pretty, I couldn't resist. Because the material is so breathable, I think they'll be perfect for the summer months after they're born and I won't have to worry about them over-heating. If they're anything like Danica, they'll love to be swaddled for quite a long time - but, again, every baby is different so who knows. :) Regardless, I chose neutral colors so that the blankets can go to my sister-in-law to be and my brother when they decide to have kids.
Kurt (my brother) came by the other day and gave us a new memory foam mattress for the bed, it was his from the lake but only 1 year old and since he's getting married they'll now have an extra one. It is AMAZING to sleep on! I can honestly say, I had my first full nights sleep in weeks last night because I didn't toss and turn, my hips didn't feel like they were breaking, my back wasn't sore, even my belly felt more supported........... I'm pretty much in love.
As for the next couple of days, it's Kevin's "weekend" so we'll be busy. Today we're off to a fetal asessment to see the babies, then stopping at some woman's house to pick up a twins nursing pillow. After that we're going to Kevin's Dad's place to "look at his new guns" (note the sheer excitement in my voice....and then *insert rolling of eyes here*) Hopefully that part of the visit won't take too long...... While I LOVE being outdoors and going to the lake and even camping, I am a city girl through and through. Guns don't impress me. In fact, I sort of hate them. Bleh. Tomorrow we're going to my Grandma's for supper with my Mom, and the rest of my family. If I had to guess, she'll probably be making the same pasta with vodka sauce she often makes, with the bottle she hides in her cupboard in a paper bag, and then she'll ask "have you tried this before? Isn't it just delicious?" lol... Grandmas are so cute. Yes, yes, the alcohol cooks out - worry not.
Anyway, Danica is up! I should be going........ Have a great week, everyone :)
x Kris.

Well, it looks like this bridesmaid thing is all sorted out. It would seem someone was passing along false information about how much I did/did not want to get involved with the shower itself, and told my sister in law that if the shower is in June or July I don't want to do anything at all to help. Period. That's not at all what I said! Not even a little bit. Anyway, I've cleared it up with my family and I'm assuming SIL will clear things up with these bridesmaids who are making a big stink about my not being available in July. *shakes head* Honestly.
Anyway - thanks for all of the comments! I read my blog entry later and realised how dramatic it sounded, but I've not been that way speaking to anyone in person. I just needed to vent and let it all out, and immediately afterward I did feel a lot better. ; ) I'll be going to look at dresses tomorrow with all of them, and after speaking to SIL, I am actually looking forward to it. I know that there's always a possibilty that I won't be able to breastfeed right away, but I'd rather be optimistic than not. So far it looks like I'll make 37 weeks, and if that's the case then there's a good chance (according to my OB) that it will all work out as planned. If not, I'll deal with it then! Either way, I want to make sure I have the option to nurse at the wedding if need be.
I've got a new ticker to add to my blog entries - hopefully it works!

Arrrrghh... I am so frustrated!!! I need to vent a little, so here it goes:
My brother is getting married this summer, which is awesome - I am so excited for him and his fiance! I am in the wedding party, which I am also excited about, but let me be honest - it's not going to be easy for me. I'll be delivering my twins via c-section on July 12th, and the wedding is on August 14th. That gives me just a few weeks to recover from surgery and get settled with my babies before the wedding. .... Yikes. Thankfully, it's out at the lake, so we'll have our own space for the little ones and I'll be able to relax and take it easy when necessary.
Now, the REALLY frustrating part - No one is taking charge of anything! I mean, none of the bridesmaids - not even the maid of honour - is doing anything to help plan for the wedding shower which should be taking place sometime soon, or the social which is at the end of May, or even settling on a date to go look at dresses. We've been emailing back and forth, and between 5 girls, they can not even agree on a date to MEET about planning this damn shower! I've been trying to set it up so that the shower is in late May - as the maid of honour is getting married in June and then away on her honeymoon for the rest of that month, and obviously July will be a complete write off for me and for my friend who's also in the Wedding party and 2 others this summer. .... Nope, aparently that's not good enough. The bride thinks May is "too early" for a shower, and the maid of honor doesn't want to do it then either because she says she's too busy planning for her own wedding..... Well, okay then.... But is someone else going to step up and plan something? Because so far no one else has even responded to the emails or phone messages! Argh!
Also, the bridesmaid dress thing is getting to be a bit overwhelming... At first, I was told we'd be all wearing sun dresses, maybe even in different styles, which sounded perfect to me! It's easy to find a cute, simple sundress which would probably work for nursing my babies, hide the post-pregnancy belly which I'll un-doubtedly have, etc. However, as it turns out we're all now supposed to be heading to some bridal store to look at formal bridesmaids dresses. Now what? If I have to go and take my dress off every time I need to nurse, I'll miss the whole wedding... I'm not just feeding one baby, but two who will probably not be on the same schedule! And I don't want to bottle feed (even expressed milk) until the babies are more established with breastfeeding. I also don't particularly have the $200+ this dress could cost especially with alterations, plus shoes, hair, and all the rest of it. AND they all seem to think strapless dresses would be perfect, and the bride wants all of us in the same dress.... THE SAME DAMN DRESS! Strapless? Me? With my (sorry, but lets be honest here) freaking enormous milk engorged leaking boobs? Oh. My. God. There is no way... There's just no way.
*sigh* ... I know I agreed to this. I just feel like I'm getting into a LOT more than I bargained for. And things seem to be turning out a lot differently than I was originally told they'd be! I don't know what to do. :( And if I complain or try and explain how I need things to be different for me, I just feel like a jerk and a "bridesmaidzilla" of sorts. Ufffff...
xx Kristin.

It's long...but was kinda fun!
*************************************************
Do you believe in forever?
Absolutely.
Are you anyone's first love?
Not that I am aware of.
Would you honestly say you'd risk your life for someone else?
Yes.
Have you ever kissed an ex after you have broken up?
That's always a mistake. Been there, done that.
Have you ever punched a wall, door, etc?
I have not.
How do you feel about girls smoking?
Smoking is disgusting and I wish no one did it.
Do you think you can last in a relationship for 6 months or more?
Of course.
Do you forgive or forget?
I forgive, I try and forget but that's often the tough part.
What are you thinking about right now?
Seeing my babies tomorrow! I have another fetal asessment, and Kevin and Danica will be able to join me which I love.
Do you get mad easily?
Oh... yes, sometimes. I can be stubborn.
If you just drank 15 beers, what would you be doing?
I don't know the last time I had 15 of anything to drink. Would have been in my early or mid-twenties before motherhood. ;) And most likely at the lake, lol. In that case, I was usually around the fire or possibly doing something stupid.
What was the highlight of your week?
Kevin and I took Danica to the Forks yesterday to enjoy the nice weather and have a walk after supper, people watch, check out the carnival there etc. It was fun! The highlight of next week will probably be my ultrasound tomorrow - I love seeing my babes.
Whose car were you in last?
Ours.
Are you happy right now?
Totally!
Would you go out in public without getting dressed up or put together?
Haha...I used to be pretty careful about at least looking "put together".... Then one day I got pregnant and had a daughter, now I just do what I can when I have time, lol.
Have you ever been in a wedding?
My own, yes. And I'll be in my brother's wedding this August!
Have you ever had a pet fish?
Several.... I'm not good with fish. Or plants.
When is the last time you saw your dad?
May 18th, '09 : ( I miss you, Dad. <3
Has anyone told you lately that they would always be there for you?
He doesn't have to anymore, I just know. :)
Would you ever get a tattoo?
I'd consider it, maybe after all of my children are born.
What are the chances you're pregnant?
100% x 2 = Twins :D
Do you still talk to the person you fell hardest for?
There's falling hard and then there's falling genuinely and with more meaning... Honestly, I think the two are different. I fell hard once, but it didn't last. We don't talk anymore, ever.
What was the last thing you cried about?
I had a hormonal moment when Kevin didn't want to "talk baby names" with me, lol
Have you ever slept with one of your co- workers?
Never.
Plans for your next birthday?
I've got almost a year until that comes up... Not a clue! This birthday my brother and his fiance had us over for dinner with my Mom and a best friend of my brother's and mine.
Do you like Redbull?
It's one of those things I'll drink occasionally even though I kind of hate the taste, lol. I'm strange like that.
Would you ever enhance or get any kind of plastic surgery?
Nah.
Someone leaves a note and flowers on your car, cute or tacky?
Mostly tacky. I may or may not laugh in an unkind way. heh.
Will you be in a relationship in 4 months?
Yes.
Do you have a laptop or desktop?
Laptop.
Did you celebrate Valentine's Day this year?
I can't remember... Is that bad? I think we did something, I just don't know.
Are you good at hiding your feelings?
HA! Terrible would be an understatement.
Can you braid hair?
What girl can't braid? --> Agreed. Thanks, Barbie.
Who are you disappointed in right now?
No one, really.
What were you doing at 11:00 AM?
Cleaning my kitchen.
Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk?
I like both! Depends on my mood... usually I drink White though.
Can you whistle?
Yes.
Do you have a trampoline at your house?
No.
Have you ever been suspended?
I was in detention a time or two (or more ;) but never, ever did anything to warrant suspension.
Do you find the opposite sex confusing?
Sometimes.
Have you ever walked in on people having sex?
No, thankfully. Eww.
Did you get a full 8 hours of sleep last night?
I don't know the last time I got 8 hours of straight sleep!
Have you ever been taken to the emergency room in an ambulance?
No, I haven't *knock on wood*
What do you usually do right when you wake up?
Get Danica (usually she's the one to wake me up), change her diaper, and then pee. Or if I really have to go, I pee first and then get her, lol.
How old will you be in 12 months?
*inhale* Oh, god.... 30 *exhale*
Do you want to see somebody right now?
Nope, I'm good! lol
Have you kissed anyone in the last week?
Kev, Danica
What color is your toothbrush?
White and bright pink.
Have you ever seen your best friend cry?
Yes.
Name a song that gets stuck in your head now and then::
Lately I get "Wavin' Flag" in my head ALL the time... I guess because it's constantly being played everyhwere.
Peanut butter goes best with what one: Honey, jam or chocolate?
Bananas
Do you like sour candies?
I would marry Fuzzy Peaches if one could marry a candy.
Do you usually have to or want to drink when attending a party?
Sure! I usually go straight for the wine - although it's been put aside for the duration of this pregnancy and for the most part while I am breastfeeding.
Whats better, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes?
Mashed sweet potatoes, with fresh minced garlic, a little butter and milk, and then a dollop of sour cream on top ;)
Did you ever used to make cookies, cakes or pie with your grandma?
lol, My Grandma was not one to like "help" in the kitchen. She once had me over to make cookies, and all she let me do was stir once or twice.
We're you ever a fan of macaroni & cheese?
I still looooooooooove it.
Do you and your mom have that motherly daughterly loving relationship?
Totally!
Will tomorrow be a busy day for you?
Maybe-ish. I have my ultrasound at 1pm, and we need to do groceries. Kevin has the day off, so we may find some other stuff to do - shopping, or just hangin' out somewhere with Danica.
Do you remember the last thing your parents said/commented about your most recent relationship?
Not sure, really!
What was the biggest surprise to you within the past week?
Nothing in particular, I guess. Oh, yes, actually I found out my friend's ex is having a baby - he's... not someone I can picture as a father. Hopefully it all goes well.
What do you think of people who say "I love you" in relationships within a matter of days?
Ridiculous, lol. Although I suppose Kevin and I said it really early on... But we'd already been very good friends for a long time, so it seemed to just...make sense, I guess. : )
Do you have a Build-a-Bear?
I don't have one. I can't wait to take Danica to make one! I think maybe for her 2nd birthday we'll do that, or maybe incorporate it into a gift from her baby sisters when they are born or something. That would be special.
Do you use all ten fingers to type?
Oh, ya. I took a "keyboarding" class in highschool and never had to go because I was already good enough, lol. All I was required to do was take the test at the end of the semester.
When do you think is the next time you'll dress up fancy?
Fancy, eh? ... Maybe for my brother's wedding social in May, if I can find a nice maternity dress to squeeze into...
Name something in your room that you probably wouldn't find in your friend's room:
A copy of the book "Having Twins"
Do you know someone who prefers going by their middle name instead of their first name?
Don't think so! Not that I can think of right now, anyway.
Your current default picture, who took it for you?
I took it, months and months ago!
Do you listen to old school music?
ALL the time!
Do you wear glasses?
Reading glasses.
Are you going anywhere for the next summer?
The hospital, to have my babies, lol.
Have you ever kissed anyone whose name starts with a K?
My husband.
What is for dinner tonight?
Left over lasagne, and french fries.... I know, way to go, healthy. Getting groceries tomorrow, otherwise I'd totally have made a salad, lol.
Does anyone love you?
Yes.
Does the last person you shared a bed with mean anything to you?
Of course!
Are you slowly drifting away from someone?
Yeah, I guess so.
Have you ever kissed anyone whose name started with a J?
Maybe? I don't know? ... uhhh... that sounds kinda bad. haha. Chalk it up to my late teens/early twenties and having a lot of fun. *cough* ...I'm embarassed now.
Did anyone see you kiss the last person you kissed?
My daughter, I'm sure. lol.
What do you carry with you at all times?
Wallet, lip balm, keys, diapers, wipes, baby snacks
Looking back, did you ever waste too much time on a certain boy or girl?
I don't think so, really! I have no regrets - my life has been complicated, but always worth it and always a learning experience. :)
xx Kris.
